Reducing Tillage

Once our research leys have been converted back to cropping after 2 and 3 years of growth in 2020 and 2021, we will assess whether direct drilling offers greater benefits than disc or plough-based tillage for subsequent arable crop production and soil quality. We will be measuring crop yield, nutrient use efficiency, weed burden (e.g. black grass), crop diseases and pests.
